Any person whose job involves installing and jointing PE pipework and/or fittings by electrofusion means.
Course Accreditation/Certification
SQA Unit Completion and EUSR Registration is based on successful completion of the training course based upon practical completion of jointing and a written assessment paper.
Buttfusion Jointing of PE Water & Gas Mains
Course Aims
The course aim’s and objectives provide candidates with the theory of butt-fusion jointing of PE Gas Mains along with practical completion of jointing of gas mains. The following sets out the five key aims of the course:
- Understand polyethylene gas pipe / markings / pressures / SDR’s / Drag Pressure
- Identify and select correct pipe, fittings and equipment
- Understand the purpose of the GIS (Gas Industry Standards)
- Complete a PE Butt-Fusion weld on a gas main competently and safely using a butt fusion welding machine and associated equipment
- Understand weld records and quality assurance requirements
Candidates Who Should Attend
Individuals working in the gas utility sector wishing to gain experience, confidence and competence in jointing of polyethylene pipe and fittings. The course will also further enhance the skills and experience of individuals already working within the water distribution network construction operations.
Course Accreditation/Certification
Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be issued with a training certificate. An EUSR Gas Pipe Butt-Fusion Jointing Card will subsequently be issued to the candidates. EUSR Gas Pipe Butt-Fusion Jointing Cards are valid for 3 years.
